View Full Version : Hi!
Hi! I'm a new member here. Just to introduce myself, my name is Mike and I live in Pennsylvania. I'm 14 right now, and I am currently about to take the Emergency Responder program, and also AHA BLS CPR, so that I can be an EMS cadet, and do ride-alongs with my ambulance corps. Ever since I was really young, I wanted to be a doctor. I wanted to help people, and I was fascinated by it. Haha, I also had my own play doctor kit! It was actually pretty cool! It had quite a few things in it...but i can only remember a few things. It had a play stethescope, a play BP cuff (you couldn't put it on anything), and also one of those things to hit your knee with to test your reflexes. They were all plastic...don't worry :-P. Well I wanted to be a Doctor for a realllllllly long time. Then i wanted to be a marine biologist for a few months or so after seeing Shamu (sp?) at Sea World. Aww, i got to tell Shamu (sp?) to jump out of the water by doing some hand thing...it was really cool! Then I wanted to become a doctor again. This summer, at Creation 05, I was "inspired" to be an EMT by one of my friends. I thought it was really cool how they were able to help people in a pre-hospital environment. Before that, I didn't know much about EMS...but now I learned alot. I just thought it was awesome how my friend could do so much for people, so I said "Hey, I want to help people too!" So I got interested in EMS. Then I joined my first EMS forum, where I learned alot. It was really fun, being able to learn from all of the EMT's and paramedics. So that's where I am right now. When I am 16, I plan to be an EMT, so I can continue helping more people, and so that I can get more knowledge in EMS. That's about it :D

I didn't ride a dino to class, either. I am a fairly new EMT, 5 years, so I guess you can say I just got a late start in EMS and drove a van to class. :respect:

OK!!!!!! I submit!!!!!!! Someone ratted me out!!!!!! It was pure hell walking uphill 21 miles to class, both ways (uphill), but I was safe because all the wild buffalo were well south of me and the natives usually went to bed early.:rotflmao:
