Has anyone tried the South Beach Diet plan? I have the book and it looks interesting. Not as restrictive of carbohydrates as Atkins. I did have success with Atkins but have been off it forever.

My biggest competitor to this diet or any diet plan is my caffeine addiction. That was my biggest drawback from significant weight loss with Atkins. I lost like 25 pounds but should have done better LOL.

Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else has tried this plan and had any success. The meal plans in it actually look very balanced and actually some what decent in variety and foods I like.

I have read teh book. And out of all the "diet plans" out there it is the one that most closely follows the American dietics assoc. recomendations. I haven;t personally used it because it was to restictive of everything to me.

Well, I have to say it is really restrictive of the foods I love, but then again, these foods are what is expanding my gut. I have gained 60+ pounds since moving to Louisiana. The food here is out of this world but it is mostly all deep fried, loaded with carbs from the rice or sauce or both.

I to have the book and agree as you say it follows the dietetic association fairly close. It does include carbs but avoids the processed carbs. I was able to follow the Atkins Diet with little trouble so this one "should" be easier to me. Many of the recipes actually look quite tasty and are foods I would eat anyway. Thank god unlimited shellfish is good of course you have to watch out for cholesterol with shellfish but shrimp and crabs are favorites, cheap and plentiful here.

Thanks for the input, any others out there?
