This is commonly known as a "phishing" attempt. It is a website posing as us to try and steal your password.
Please note that the URL will not send you to the FOOPS site, but an IP address (such as http://62.193.220.183/confirm.php?email=mike@foops.org )
Any actio we need you to perform on your account will be posted on the frontpage of the site...
Please feel free to contact me if you believe your account has been comprimised and I will see to it we fix it. If you are worried, just change your password for FOOPS and you should be all set.
Thanks!
And thanks to Brad for posting this... :)
I haven't got any from us but I did get one yesterday that was a Paypal scam site similar to what we have going on here.
If any of you are paypal members and get one, beware. If the text in the email is addressed personally to you, it is cool. If it is addressed to PayPal Member or Paypal user or something like that, it is a hoax.
While it is important to us that no one obtain your information here, I thought I would post the paypal thing since that is tied to your bank accounts and credit cards.

Well, i guess I have been getting them but they have been going directly to my junk mail folder.
Smurfe
Well, i have got like 50 of these messages in the past couple days. Should I be looking for something like a worm or bug? Or will it just go away?
Smurfe
Twenty-four went in my spam folder this afternoon. One got in my email, though. Am I supposed to block it with that spam blocker button I have? It says it's from foops admin.
Someone found out about us and is just using our email addresses.......not much we can do about it, I'm sure...right Sean!!
Yes, Ros, hit the spam button thingy and things will be better.... ;) :D
Should I change my email address??? I guess I am not understanding how this happened...

Basically the worm is trying every known combination for our email addresses... you should see the amount of incorrectly addressed mail we are getting... Unfortunately not much we can do about it. Just keep deleting.
Well, i haven't got one in a few days now. Guess they got tired of me not replying. And hey, my account wasn't deleted here :D

I've gotten 11 emails in 3 days, all with viruses attached which were caught by Norton's. I just made some Message Rules configuring to the @foops models I have been receiving and it is suppose to delete it from the server....so let's see how this works....wish me luck.

I don't have FOOPS email, but did anyone get ahold of our registered email addys? I got a couple odd spams, one with a virus... and this is on my special email that I only use for official business (and FOOPS ... that's official, right?)
