W. Mark Felt, former second-in-command of the FBI, admitted he was "Deep Throat." Woodward, Bernstein, and Ben Bradlee confirmed it.

Well, I guess I can scratch this one off the list of mysteries to puzzle over. Now all I want to know is who really shot JFK. Really, though, it's almost disappointing to know.

Well, you know...now that the mystery is revealed, it's kind of a let-down.

Where is Jimmy Hoffa, who was behind the JFK shooting, why can't I find a rich woman...all of these questions are intriguing and I would like to know these answers as well.

Someday all of our deepest and darkest secrets will be revealed. Let's just hope that the skeletons in my closest never come out. ;)

It happened before my time, but I still found the historical value of it very, very interesting. Ironic how he felt shameful of what he did and yet many people thought it was such a good thing he did.

Just another fine example of how our political system functions. I suppose he's old enough now that the retribution factor doesn't enter the picture. However there some evil people still lurking (left over from the Watergate era). Don't be surprised if something happens because of this new disclosure.

I agree with Brad, this one is kind of anti-climactic.

Now if only they would tell us who shot JR (whoops, JFK ;) ).

It is a shame that this was left out during my education. I mean we talked about Watergate, but they never really talked about "Deep Throat" and I think he was very important as far as the big picture.

I'm gald I read more then what was just assigned to me when I was in high school and college level US history.

At first I got a little excited when the news flashed across the screen, "DEEP THROAT REVEALED", I thought they were going to talk about Linda Lovelace, afterall she was the real DEEP THROAT star. But when I found out they were talking about politics, I went into a funk and decided not to pursue the issue too far.

As one who came of age during Vietnam, and was mesmerize by the drama of the corruption of Watergate; the revelation let my mind wander back to those years of loss, intrigue, and subversion. It influences my view of our government, of George Bush and our involvement in Iraq along with the ensuing ancillary dilemma's.

For my generation, Watergate had enormous national and international ramifications that affected the psyche of our entire nation. Watergate added insult to an already injured nation who had witnessed and felt the disgrace as we cut and ran from Saigon, lost over 50,000 native sons and injured and untold number in the process of losing our first war. We all knew or grew up with someone who was killed or injured in Nam. Kennedy, whom no-one admitted to liking till after he was killed had been murdered in Dallas, Eisenhower's warning about the military-industrial complex was recent enough to really mean something, and Watergate was the OJ Simpson trial of our era but much more sensational.

Watergate influences our nation today in ways few ponder.

For my part, I'd certainly like to shake Mark Felts hand.

Actually.... I mentioned the same thing in re: JFK and just happened to look. Apparently the Warren Commission's report is online!

I hasten to note that I've not read it in its entireity yet, but at least it's out there. I don't know if it reveals a second shooter or not.

Happy reading!

Bill

I mistakenly thought that this was a new thing, having been under the impression that the report of the Warren Commission was sealed for 50 years or some such. Apparently I was mistaken and this report has been available for many years. Oh well.

WELLAGEDEMT, I bet you got a kick out of the shirt that David Spade worn in the movie Joe Dirt. The one that read. "I choked Linda Lovelace" I got a chuckle or two out of it.
