Wellaged And His Family Want To Express Our Heart Felt Thanks To All Of You Who Have Offered Support And Prayers.
Wellaged Had His Surgery This Morning And Made It Through With Flying Colors, The Surgeon Came Out And Told Us That He Was Able To Get All The Cancer And Everything Looks Good. At This Time He Is Still In The Hospital But Should Be Home Tomorrow.
Thanks So Much
Julie

Woo Hoo! Tell him I send my best, stop harassing the nurses, and hurry up back so we can pick on him and call him old again. ;) Oh yeah, don't let him milk it too much. :(
Seriously though, that is good news.

OK! I'm home and want to thank all for the prayers and support. I am sure that everything will be OK once I get the waterworks back in "shape". I certainly didn't think that you could get a garden hose to fit in such a small space, but they did it. Right now I can hit all areas of the toilet and beyond without moving any fixtures. I am really happy that they got all the cancer and that I will have some more of this discomfort every 6 months at checkup time. We haven't gotten the pathology reports back yet so I am not sure of what followup procedures will be taken. I'm still taking pain pills ( those are a trip) and an antibiotic. I don't know the size of the tumor but it must have fit through that garden hose. I really don't care as long as they got all of it.
Again thanks for the caring and prayers.

Ray, so glad to see that you are back with us and in your usual fine form for posting! As for the garden hose problem, I can't even begin to imagine, so I'll just keep you in my prayers for a lil bit longer.

Nice to see you back old man. I trust that there will be no harrasment lawsuits from the nurses at the hospital? :p
Rest and relaxation are in order as I am sure the doctor (or better yet the PA :hehe: ) instructed you. Relax as much as you can and don't push it, or else more pain will be in order.
Take it easy on the wife too. She's going to take to take good care of you. She might lace the food to get some life insurance money. :D
Hey Gramps!
Tag your it! :D Good to see your back!

Glad to see you're back and feeling relativly fine. I'll agree that I can't imagine the water hose thing. As long as the pain meds work on you, you shouldn't be feeling too bad when they kick in.

I have quit taking the pain pills, I was starting to float, those things are addictive. I only feel a dull ache in my bladder area. I also quit smoking, that was something I thought I would have a problem with but so far it's been a pretty mild withdrawl. I had smoked for about 40 years but moderately, less than a pack a day. I miss it, now I have to find some other crutch or find something to do with my hands. I have already had some suggestions but have took them with little regard. I'm just not a pocket pool player!
I'm still waiting for the pathology reports that will determine what followup treatment will be necessary.
Thanks again for the prayers!!!

I got the pathology report back today. Dr. stated that he got all the cancer and the only followup needed would be a checkup every 4 months. I assumed that this was a good report and feel so very lucky. I just know it was a result of all your prayers. I'm going to be around to harass everyone as usual. And most important to me, is that I can resume my position as an EMT again on a regular basis. I have to wait a week yet before lifting but will look forward to doin' my thing.

Maybe I should advertise on E-Bay!!!!! I'd have Narcs knockin' immediately. I will admit that they were really smooth. I have some from one other time that have aged somewhat, but aren't they like fine whiskey? they get better with age???? No, I won't dangle a carrot under your nose, I'll just dispose of the remainder of pills in a safe manner. ( if there's any left). Thanks!!!!!!
Ray, you are truly a blessed man! Welcome back and it looks like you are having a speedy recovery!
Let me know what your tips are on quiting smoking. I would love to quit. Our governor is trying to put a $1.00 a pack tax on cigarettes down here in Louisiana to help give teachers a pay raise. I would like to quit for health reasons and financial reasons, as well!

Excellent to hear that you're doing so well, Ray. It's wonderful that they were able to get it before it spread.
If I might ask, for the education of our viewing audience, was there anything that made you suspicious or concerned that something was wrong, or did this show up on a routine exam?

Rmurphy, I just made up my mind to quit and my wife assisted with "the Patch", I had some incentive when my Dr. said that smoking was the main cause and if I didn't quit the cancer would be back , probably a little more aggressive next time. I am not out of the woods with smoking yet but am getting a lot of support.
EMSsquirrel, I think the easiest way to explain this is that I had felt a dull ache in the very lower left quadrant of my stomach for about 3 or 4 months, then I felt a twinge of pain when going to the bathroom. This was only a couple of days and I noticed several small blood clots and then they got bigger. I went to my local Dr. and there was a lot of blood in my urine and some kind of infection. So he made an appointment with a urologist and The intense "fun" began. This "Dr." enjoyed his examination, scoping my bladder and then telling me that I had cancer. He did say that it was, by the scope exam, in it's early stages and that he was sure that he would be able to get it all. The rest is history. As far as signs and symptoms , not much there. No real pain except what the "Dr." inflicted.

Good to know. I've had some issues with recurring UTIs, so I don't get too on-edge when there's some pain. But if that's what clued you in, I guess I need to pay closer attention to it, especially with a family history now. I did have some rather serious bleeding at one point, which got me in to see the doc, and they shoved some pretty heavy duty tubes up where they don't belong... yeeeersh. I feel your pain!

Good God there are a lot of old foogies on this site. :D
Can I have a head start? :p
